Hot Tottie Recipe

Hot Totties are one of the classic examples of easy cocktail preparation without all the mumbo-jumbo!

Before we jump into its preparation, it must be kept in mind that this hot tottie recipe is spelled in two ways, Hot Tottie or Hot Toddy. Two spellings, same thing.

With bare minimum ingredients and equally stringent timelines, a hot tottie is nothing sort of a miracle in the world of cocktails!

The best part is that it can suit any situation – whether you are on your own sipping away the warmth of the long day or you are rocking hard at a party, this hot tottie recipe will never leave your side.

Hot Tottie Ingredients

  • 3/4th of a cup water
  • 1 ½ ounce whiskey
  • 2 or 3 teaspoons of honey
  • 2 or 3 teaspoons of lemon juice
  • Lemon slice

Optional Hot Tottie Ingredients (to spice up the classic recipe)

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 pinch of Nutmeg Powder
  • 3 cloves

Hot Tottie Directions

Pour the water into a pan and heat it until it simmers. The water should not be boiled.

Put the hot water in a tumbler or mug.

Add whiskey, honey, and lemon.

Stir the contents until the honey completely dissolves.

Taste it and add honey or lemon juice to suit your taste buds.

Add the lemon slice (and top it up with the cinnamon stick to serve).

Optional Hot Tottie Directions (to spice up the classic recipe)

You can spice up this classic hot tottie recipe by adding nutmeg powder, cloves, or ginger slices to the mixture and let it sit for a while.

The zing of these new ingredients can add a new spectrum of taste to the good ol’ hot tottie.

You can also mix and match whiskey for spiced rum, brandy, bourbon, etc. along with tea liqueur, apple cider, etc.
