I think I have finally found a restaurant where you get served fast, but don’t feel like you’re in a fast food joint.

PDQ is fast-casual.

Think fast food, but 10x better – nicer environment, better service, and made to order food.

Yes, the food is made to order!

I stopped by the PDQ restaurant in Fort Lauderdale with my family for lunch because the menu is perfect – fresh hand-battered chicken tenders, made-to-order sandwiches, daily cut fries, hand-spun milkshakes, and fresh salads.

(Sidenote: the milkshakes are so good, and a manager even let Julianna hop behind the counter to make her own!)

Four things really stood out to me at PDQ:

  • Open kitchen.

I love that you can see everyone working and cooking while they are doing it. (We’ve all seen those viral videos of what happens behind the scenes at restaurants and vow to never eat out again.) Here, you can actually see employees make your food, which is pretty cool.

  • Service.

Here, service doesn’t end after you order. It is someone’s job to walk around the dining room to make sure all guests are taken care of and have everything they need… and shout out to Jeff for all your help!

  • Drive-Thru.

Thank you for finally understanding we can’t understand a word people say through the speakers and they can’t understand a word of our order. Here, a person takes your order face to face.

  • Fresh food.

These people at PDQ work hard! They make EIGHT different sauces every day.

(Check out Justin letting Julianna test out the honey mustard.)

The fries are fresh-cut, not frozen.

I could go on about many other menu items, but you get the point.

Fresh… and fast.

Bonus: My daughter loves a man in uniform and every other person to walk into the 17th Street location in Fort Lauderdale was an LEO.

I’ve never felt safer eating lunch.

By the way, PDQ stands for People Dedicated to Quality.

I know you were wondering.

I’m required to disclose a relationship between my blog and PDQ. This could include me being provided with content, product, access, service, or other forms of payment.

I LOVE PDQ! It definitely is one of my favorite “fast food” places.
