The Escape Room is my second #BuddyRead with my friend Savannah Carlisle.

We liked The Night Swim so much that we wanted to read Megan Goldin’s other book published by St. Martin’s Press.

Like the other, this one was a suspenseful page-turner that takes place in a locked elevator until the very end.

Welcome to the escape room. Your goal is simple. Get out alive.

In the lucrative world of finance, Vincent, Jules, Sylvie, and Sam are at the top of their game.

They’ve mastered the art of the deal and celebrate their success in style―but a life of extreme luxury always comes at a cost.

Invited to participate in an escape room challenge as a team-building exercise, the ferociously competitive and ambitious high-flyers crowd into the elevator of a high-rise building, eager to prove themselves.

But when the lights go off and the doors stay shut, it quickly becomes clear that this is no ordinary competition: they’re caught in a dangerous game of survival… and a lethal game of revenge.

Trapped in the dark, the colleagues must put aside their bitter rivalries and work together to solve cryptic clues to break free.

But as the game begins to reveal the team’s darkest secrets, they realize there’s a price to be paid for the terrible deeds they committed in their ruthless climb up the corporate ladder in the lucrative world of wall street finance.

As tempers fray, and the clues turn deadly, they must solve one final chilling puzzle: which one of them will kill in order to survive? And the biggest mystery of all, who brought them there?

My Book Review for The Escape Room

The Escape Room is a true page-turner.

Trigger warning: There is a description of sexual assault in this book.

I love how the book goes back and forth from the present time in the “escape room” to what happened in the past with the competitive co-workers that ended with them there.

There were many clues mentioned at the beginning that made you want to keep reading to see what happened and/or how it happened. There are many dark secrets of their team that reveal themselves in the end.

Fellow thriller fans, I can’t wait for Megan Goldin’s next one!

My The Escape Room Book Recommendation

This book is the perfect book if you’re looking for a guessing game on who is behind the many shenanigans at work and outside of work. It is one of my favorite books of the year.

It has it all – money, sex, and murder with a twisty conclusion.

Does it get better than that?!

My The Escape Room Rating

I give The Escape Room 5 out of 5 stars.
